Dear friends,
It is time for us to wish you a very happy new year 2024.
May it give birth to your projects, nourish your dreams, bring you great moments of happiness, serenity and above all keep you in good health.
For those who follow Céline on social media, or who have read her latest articles, you will know that we are still in Morocco with our little Scoubi truck.
In the first part of the trip, we worked on two video projects in the south of the country, at the edge of the desert. They will be released in a few weeks, we will start editing as soon as we return. For now, we inform you of the posting of a new video, made just before our departure.
We invite you to stroll with us in our vegetable garden. What a funny idea, isn’t it? Why our vegetable garden?
Because we love this daily connection to the earth and to the living,
Because it is a subject that we had on hand (to get our hands dirty in video),
Because we took care of it,
Because we saw it grow, day after day and also,
Because it nourished us, in different forms.
Behind this tribute to our garden are hidden many hours of work, editing, writing texts, choosing music, recording voices, questioning, back and forth.
Professionals will see beginners’ mistakes, we see potential.
Further down in this article, we share with you our desire to expand our means of artistic communication through video.
But for now, put on your boots or clogs! Grab a basket and a knife if you wish.
However, if you don’t like contemplation, slowness and subtle atmospheres and poetry… well, wait until the next video.
Video: So a new “activity”?
Video is a branch that is starting to take up more and more space in our work as artists. It is an exciting approach, but also destabilizing. It animates us and sometimes exhausts us too. It is a completely new experience. We have to learn many techniques, redo our scales on the ground to be more reactive, in order to be able, as in photography, to concentrate and interact with the subject, without getting caught up in the technique.
So we sometimes find ourselves behind our camera like when we started in photography, more than 20 years ago. Videographer is obviously a profession in its own right, but as self-taught people, we like to experiment and are very committed to this new creative process.
Video allows us to transmit and share things that photography does not allow. It is not about replacing one with the other, but about combining them, or even complementing them.
Call for subject / and an editor :
Ideally, we would like to move forward in this new direction that is video and are already looking for new subjects that inspire us and that deserve to be documented, such as permaculture, spirituality, health, nature, anything that is close to the living for a healthier, more fulfilled life.
However, if you know of people who want to, or who have something inspiring to testify, do not hesitate to let us know.
In the future, we plan to call on a professional who would assist us in editing and storytelling. Here again, if you know of people who have these skills and who offer this service, do not hesitate to leave us a comment.
Being perfectionists by nature, we are well aware that it will be difficult for us to delegate this work when our vision is very clear in our heads. However, we realize that it is increasingly difficult and time-consuming to want to do everything ourselves. This will undoubtedly also allow us to take a step back from the emotional side of filming.
On this bit of news, we wish you a good viewing.
Kind regards,
Céline et Sam
